Mode of action

In the spray tank the sodium salt ionises to the MCPA anion, which enters the weed through leaves and roots and translocates to the meristems. Acting as a synthetic auxin it binds TIR1/AFB receptors and triggers degradation of Aux/IAA repressors, causing uncontrolled growth, stem and leaf distortion, root deformation and plant death. Cereals metabolise the molecule rapidly and are unaffected.
