Glyphosate

The world’s most-used non-selective systemic herbicide. Absorbed through green foliage and translocated all the way to roots, rhizomes and stolons, so it kills deep-rooted perennials that contact herbicides cannot reach. Inactivated immediately on contact with soil, leaving no residual activity for the following crop.

Mode of action

Glyphosate inhibits 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate (EPSP) synthase, the key enzyme of the shikimic acid pathway. Once the pathway is blocked the plant can no longer synthesise the aromatic amino acids phenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan. Protein synthesis collapses, growth stops, and the plant dies progressively from the growing points down into the root system. First symptoms appear in 4 to 20 days depending on species, temperature and sunlight.

Every batch is tested in our in-house HPLC and GC laboratory before release. Third-party pre-shipment inspection by SGS, Bureau Veritas or Intertek is available on request, with photographs and a sealed retention sample.
